OPEC and its non-OPEC allies will hold a series of crucial meetings this week on the future of the OPEC + production cut deal, amid fears of the corona’s implications for the global economy.
As usual, the meetings will begin today with the ministerial committee meeting to monitor the progress of the implementation of the "OPEC +" agreement, which includes Russia and Saudi Arabia, and the committee will submit its recommendations on the measures to be taken in the oil market.
This will be followed by tomorrow, Thursday, a meeting of the member states of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), during which the recommendations of the ministerial committee will be analyzed, provided that the participating countries in the "OPEC +" alliance will hold a meeting on Friday to take a unified decision.
The meetings, to be held in Vienna, come at a sensitive time for the global oil markets, which witnessed sharp fluctuations during the last period due to the spread of the Corona virus in the world.
The OPEC + coalition will have to decide whether to respond to the consequences of the deadly virus and increase production cuts.
