Brett McGurk, the US envoy to the international coalition against ISIS, said: "Two American soldiers were killed in Iraq while fighting with ISIS, reports indicate that reaching them took six hours. Time is incorrect."

According to a military official, the Americans who were killed by a crane after falling into a hole in a cave should have been withdrawn.
The identity of the dead soldiers was not disclosed, a measure US forces follow until the families of the dead are reported.
