{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee revealed that it is working to add an amendment that excludes experienced and efficient consultant doctors from the new unified pension law that was applied and referred four batches of doctors to retire, which led to a severe shortage of their numbers in health institutions.
Committee member Abd Aoun Allawi said, in a press statement, that "the committee is working to finalize the most important laws, which is the health insurance law, in addition to its work to amend the general retirement law, especially in the paragraphs specific to doctors," noting that "the application of the new retirement law has resulted To a severe shortage of doctors in health institutions. "
He added, "The amendment of the retirement law will include the exclusion of doctors from retirement due to the shortfall, so the committee submitted its amendment as part of the amendments to the retirement law, which is to extend the retirement age for consultants with competence and long experience." He explained, "The amendment will be submitted to the House of Representatives for a vote after the legislative holiday, and it is possible that the specialist consultant doctor can reach 63 years of age, because the implementation of the new retirement law brought out four batches at once, which negatively affected the work of health institutions."
Allawi pointed out, "In every country in the world there is one doctor for every 10,000 patients; but in Iraq the scale has become one doctor for every 24,000 patients, and it is not enough and does not fill the shortfall in health institutions, accompanied by the deterioration of the health situation."
