A parliamentary committee calls for allocating an emergency budget to support the poor and disadvantaged
The Committee for Monitoring the Government Program and Strategic Planning called for taking a number of urgent measures to support the poor and disadvantaged segments by activating social protection.
A member of the committee, Inaam Al-Khuzai, said in a statement that: "A number of policies must be taken urgently, the most important of which is to allocate an emergency budget to support the poor and disadvantaged segments in the various Iraqi governorates with cash payments through coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs," noting: "The importance of establishing a voluntary fund Similar to the Popular Mobilization Support Fund is funded by deducting 2% of employees with more than one million incomes, provided that the percentage increases as income increases to 50% of the entry of special grades, ministers, and deputies in the federal and provincial government.
She added, "This percentage will not affect the various categories of employees as much as its positive effects on the poor and disadvantaged classes in the country," calling for the creation of a committee consisting of the Ministry of Planning, Trade, Labor and Social Affairs to inventory the poorest and most disadvantaged segments of society for the purpose of allocating a diversified and specific food quota that is urgently acted for relief These vulnerable groups until the crisis is over.
She pointed out the importance of coordination between the government and the parliament in order to exit in the form of a law that obligates stopping the rental fees for all homes, apartments, and commercial stores until the imposed ban ends and life returns to normal, stressing the importance of continuous government monitoring of the levels of prices of different commodities and food items and reducing the greed of merchants through strict penalties that prevent Monopoly of goods and control of prices and quantities.
Al-Khazai called for the necessity of not neglecting the provision of food supply lines through the perpetuation of the commercial movement of goods and food and increasing imports and maintaining the flow of transportation of food trucks between governorates, noting to coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture to secure fruits and vegetables in all markets at prices that suit all segments of society and take into account the conditions of classes The poor and urged the Shiite and Sunni endowments to play their hoped-for role in helping the vulnerable segments and providing cash and food aid until this crisis is overcome.
