Al-Fateh admits holding Al-Zarrafi "individual" consultations to split the Shiites

Shafaq News / A parliamentarian for the Hadi al-Amiri-led Fatah coalition approved on Friday that Prime Minister-designate Adnan al-Zarfi held individual consultations with Shi'a members of the House of Representatives to win their votes, stressing that these discussions will not help in passing his government.
A source close to Al-Zrafi told Shafaq News on Tuesday that the latter was able to win the support of 100 members of the Iraqi parliament for the Shiite forces on the creation of movements targeting MPs, not their alliances.
The deputy of Al-Fateh Fadhil Al-Fatlawi told Shafak News, "Al-Zrafi's resort to winning votes unilaterally, taking advantage of his relationship with members of Parliament, will not work, nor will he get their votes and their confidence in Parliament."
On March 16th, the President of the Republic tasked Barham Salih, the head of the parliamentary victory bloc, Adnan al-Zarfi, to form the new government within 30 days.
This mandate came after the "Seven Committee" of the Shiite forces failed to reach agreement on a specific candidate.
Al-Zrafi faces rejection from prominent Shiite forces close to Iran, led by Hadi al-Amiri, the Al-Fateh coalition, and the State of Law coalition led by Nuri al-Maliki, and pushed it to form a new seven-party committee to choose an alternative to al-Zorfi.
Al-Zorfi's move to persuade parliamentarians individually indicates his conviction that Shiite alliances and forces opposing his mandate cannot be won, especially since many view him as close to America while some describe him as a "client" of the United States.
Al-Fatlawi added that "Al-Zrafi has become totally incapable of forming the ministerial cabinet and obtaining the confidence of the parliament, due to his inability to confront the Shiite forces who refuse to take over as prime minister."
Al-Fatlawi said that "Al-Zrafi will be subject to the status quo before the end of the constitutional period, and he will apologize to the Presidency of the Republic for forming a government."
The mission was assigned to Zorfi after the former Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi stepped down from the task of forming the government early this month after he failed to persuade the Kurds, Sunnis and some Shiite forces to give confidence to his cabinet.
The new government will succeed Adel Abdel Mahdi's government, which was forced by unprecedented popular protests to resign in early December 2019.
