A parliamentary committee reassures: the news of the coup is unrealistic and change via the ballot box
An atmosphere of curfew imposed in Iraq about 3 weeks ago is reviving to counter the Corona virus outbreak, news of planning a military coup, although officials consider that news unrealistic.
A Gulf newspaper report, a few days ago, triggered talk of an alleged US-led coup in Iraq to seize power and appoint a pro-government prime minister to Washington.
Although the newspaper is not well known, and is not known to publish such news, the report, which was quoted by a source in the Iranian Quds Force, was widely spread.
And helped spread the news of the coup, an escalation by some armed factions in Iraq, known to oppose the United States, and in return news of an imminent US military operation against those groups.
Last November, rumors of a military coup inside the Green Zone, in central Baghdad, were carried out by the anti-terrorist agency, and were soon denied. The event was then assigned to a “hacker” who hacked the device’s pages on social media platforms.
A security source in Baghdad says to (Al-Mada), that "the idea of a military coup always invokes the ideas of the population, perhaps because of disappointment from a political change in the country, but in practice it cannot happen at the present time."
The news of the coup of Talib Chagati, the head of the anti-terrorist (fabricated) service, occurred while the protests were on the rise, in exchange for severe repression by the authority and armed groups believed to belong to parties.
The source, who asked not to be named, denies any "suspicious" military movements that are taking place now, noting that "the withdrawal of US forces from some bases is for redeployment and not for a coup."
The Gulf newspaper, which reported the imminent American coup, said that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and factions in Iraq, particularly the Popular Mobilization Committee, "declared a state of alert with all forces in anticipation of a military coup that the Americans are planning to seize power in Baghdad."
The newspaper quoted an Iranian Quds Force source, whose name has not been released, that the assassination of Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani and Deputy Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Authority Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis represented "the beginning of the American move to wreak power over Iraq, because the Americans knew that Soleimani had close contacts with Many Iraqi politicians, and he could turn the table on them at any moment. ”
America and Hezbollah
Washington has accused the Hezbollah Brigades in Iraq of responsibility for attacking military bases hosting foreign forces in the country, and has hit the Washington embassy in the Green Zone several times with "Katyusha" missiles.
The United States and the international coalition forces have been evacuating a number of military bases in Iraq a few days ago, including the Qayyarah base, south of Mosul, and al-Qaim, west of Anbar, while these moves raise fears of an unknown scheme.
The security source says: "The American forces will hand over a base at Samaya in southeastern Baghdad, and the presidential palaces in Mosul, in addition to the" K1 "base in Kirkuk.
So far, the reason behind these withdrawals is not understood, while observers saw that countries participating in the international coalition such as the Czech Republic and France evacuated their forces in Iraq because of Corona virus procedures, especially since the coalition recently stopped its training in the country for the same reasons.
On the other hand, the Western media returned yesterday to talk about a "widespread attack" that American forces might carry out against what they described as "militias" affiliated with Tehran, which strengthened the "scenarios" of the coup.
Those media outlets said that the plan "may require sending thousands of soldiers to the area."
The news came two days after the Hezbollah Brigades in Iraq announced the implementation of multiple military exercises in southern Baghdad.
The brigades said in statements that they had conducted military exercises in the Jurf al-Sakhr region, southwest of Baghdad, to prepare for any emergency.
The brigades confirmed that the exercises, titled "Hunting Crows", were carried out by thousands of armed men, as part of a tactical exercise in which sophisticated weapons were used, and wielded a battle in the forests and training in urban warfare effectively.
The exercise also simulated, according to the armed faction, scenarios to address airdrops and exposure to land, while the battalions "enemies" warned against the consequences of any act of aggression.
The Hezbollah Brigades had revealed earlier, that it possesses "data that live up to the level of information" on the monitoring of suspicious American moves to achieve suspicious goals, with the participation of an Iraqi security apparatus.
The brigades warned "the wave of American psychological campaigns that pave the way for a new American scheme in Iraq," explaining that the plan "focuses on airdrops to army, security and crowd positions with ground support and air support."
Form a new government
On the other hand, Shiite blocs considered that the news of a military coup implemented by the United States does not deviate from the framework of pressure exerted by Washington, in order to pass the new official in charge of forming the government, Adnan Al-Zarfi.
Representatives of the Al-Fatah coalition, led by Hadi al-Amiri, denied talking about the United States of America supporting some parties to establish a military coup in Baghdad, and considered it a "shame on health."
Those parties, which are opposed to the Prime Minister-designate, said that the purpose behind the publication of these news was "to pressure the opponents to accept Al-Zarfi".
However, the deputy of the Al-Fateh Alliance Fadel Jaber Al-Fatlawi held the government and the Iraqi Intelligence Service responsible for following up what was published regarding the existence of an American intention to carry out a military coup in Iraq, confirming that the recent US ambassador's moves are suspicious.
Al-Fatlawi said in a press statement, "The movements of the American ambassador and his employees in the consulates deployed in the country are suspicious, as well as the movements of the American forces present on Iraqi soil are also becoming suspicious."
He stressed the need to "limit American actions and prevent the American ambassador from meeting or holding any meetings with politicians except with governmental and official approvals."
For his part, Harim Agha, a member of the House’s Security Committee, told Al-Mada that “Iraq is a democratic country, and there is no way to change except for the ballot box.”
Agha affirmed that there are no indications of an internal coup carried out by armed parties, nor an external one, with the support of a Western country, considering that these reports are "unrealistic".
