Iraqi forces receive the Habbaniyah airbase from the international coalition ... next week
The Joint Operations Command revealed that the Habbaniyah airbase in Anbar had been received from the international coalition forces.
"The security forces will take over the Habbaniyah air base, located between the cities of Ramadi and Fallujah, from the US forces and the International Alliance Mission next week, according to an organized schedule," operations spokesman Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji said.
Al-Khafaji said in a press statement, "The locations that Iraqi forces have received from the international coalition mission mark the start of a new mechanism between Iraq and the United States of America to eliminate terrorism."
The Habbaniyah air base is one of the oldest bases in Iraq, and its establishment by the British Royal Air Force dates back to the year 1936, and after the departure of the British, it was transferred to the Iraqi Air Force.
