a member of the Parliamentary Energy Committee, Humam Al-Tamimi, revealed on Friday the reasons for the continuous targeting of energy towers in Diyala province, while pointing to the return of the Iranian Mercad line to service within hours.
Al-Tamimi said in an interview with "Mawazine News" that "the electricity transmission towers are being targeted annually by the terrorists because of the roughness of the lands in which they are located and the lack of security blocks there."
Al-Tamimi, a deputy from Diyala governorate, called for "the protection of electricity towers by strengthening security blocks and using thermal cameras."
He added: "We conducted a field visit to the Iranian Mirsad Line towers in Wadi Al-Thalab near Khanaqin and inspected the maintenance of its towers that were targeted. The lines will return to service within hours as soon as the maintenance operations are completed." Ended 29 / h
