{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The political scene details hours to resolve the fate of the cabinet of the Prime Minister-designate, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, in the House of Representatives.
Yesterday, Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Al-Halbousi called on the deputies to attend the session devoted to voting on the ministerial platform and the cabinet of the government in charge of Mustafa Al-Kazemi, on Wednesday 9:00 pm.
Al-Kazemi is the third figure to be assigned to form a government, after the failure of his two predecessors, Adnan al-Zarfi and Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, to rally support for them.
Al-Kazemi's presidential term expires on May 9, but observers say he still has conditional support from most of the Sunni, Shiite, and Kurdish forces and enough to pass his cabinet in parliament.
In the event that Al-Kazemi obtains the confidence of Parliament, his government will succeed the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi, who resigned on the first of last December; Under pressure from popular protests calling for reform and improvement of the living and service reality.
In order for Al-Kazemi's squad to obtain the confidence of Parliament, an absolute majority (50 percent + 1) of the number of members present is required in favor of granting confidence, while the political forces agreed that the new government's mission is to call early elections and face the financial crisis and the Corona pandemic.
Despite the announcement by each of the coalition of state law headed by Nuri al-Maliki and patriotism led by Iyad Allawi boycotting the session and with the arrival of dispersed members of parliament in many governorates and the Kurdistan region because of the epidemic, it will hold and complete its quorum according to all expectations and estimates.
While the Alliance of Sadrists close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, will decide his position on the government in the House of Representatives, and the coalition’s deputy, Jamal Fakher, said: “If Al-Kazemi wants to obtain the confidence of the House of Representatives, the cabinet should be professional, efficient and independent personalities far from party quotas. However, some parties and political blocs are still holding on to quotas and looking for ministerial portfolios in the next government.
He added that "the position of the Saeron Bloc from the government will be in the House of Representatives after informing the members of Parliament on the names of the candidates in the cabinet."
But parliamentary sources confirmed that Al-Kazemi "will pass the vote because there are no other options, but what will likely happen is not to vote on all of the 22 members of the government."
She added, "The political blocs, despite all the calamities that the country is suffering, exerted great pressure on the taxpayer, including interfering with the details in choosing the ministers, knowing that most of them announced that they had given him a full mandate to choose the ministers."
Al-Kazemi continues his consultations with the political blocs until the last minute to ensure that his government gains confidence, and he met, at his office in the government palace yesterday, Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Al-Halbousi and expressed during the meeting, "their aspiration to form a strong government that meets the aspirations and legitimate demands of the Iraqi people."
The political bureau member of the National Wisdom Movement, Fadi al-Shammari, revealed the political blocs that will vote in favor of passing the Al-Kazemi government, and he said in a tweet on Twitter that: “Wisdom, conquest, others, victory, and the alliance of Kurdish forces and parties will vote in favor of passing an independent government.”
He added that "Iraq is on the brink of an abyss, and the formation of a new government with absolute powers and popular and political support is an urgent national necessity away from private moods and interest accounts."
On the level of the government formation map, a source familiar with the matter said that a change had occurred over some of the names of the candidates for ministries, and according to this source, {Al Furat News}, “The candidate for the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was changed, and the current Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nizar Al-Khairallah was named for the position, while it was agreed to nominate The commander of the ground forces, Lieutenant General Juma Anad, for the position of Minister of Defense, and the current Chief of Staff of the Army, First Lieutenant General Othman Al-Ghanmi, for the position of Minister of Interior. ”
The Speaker of Parliament indicated that the division of Al-Kazemi's booth did not differ from its predecessors, and was distributed as follows: 12 ministries for the Shiite blocs, 6 for the Sunni component, 3 for the Kurds, and one for minorities.
The head of the Iraqi Advisory Council, Farhad Alaaddin, expects that "all indicators go towards passing the government, but not all of them, as 18 of the 21 ministries can be voted on while the Finance Ministry remains vacant until the dispute over the ministry and the minister is resolved together."
And on how to visualize the next political scene in Iraq, and whether the next government is able to face challenges, Aladdin says that "the scene will be very complicated, especially since the person in charge does not have a magic wand to solve the current stifling crises."
He adds that Al-Kazemi "will be in a good position to counter the assistance of friendly countries in providing assistance, and he also wants to change the current economic reality by launching initiatives."
Aladdin believes that "
The voting session will be held in the conference hall in Parliament, due to its large size, and there will be a distance between each deputy and another for health protection due to the Corona pandemic.
Although parliamentary and political reactions tend to reassure that the government will pass and that the ongoing dispute over some ministries can be settled in the last moments, the controversy over Al-Kazemi and his approach has been resolved, too, paving the way for the government to gain confidence in agreeing to pass the majority of ministries to a ministry with Others remain until after gaining confidence and resolving the dispute over them, according to sources.
