On Friday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi agreed to release the pensioners ’salaries starting tomorrow, Saturday.
A statement of the Office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan al-Kaabi, received by the "information", said that "the latter made a phone call to Prime Minister Osid Mustafa al-Kazemi, to discuss the issue of delaying the payment of pensioners' salaries."
The statement added, "Al-Kazemi confirmed the release of pensioners' salaries during tomorrow, Saturday, May 9, while it was agreed that securing the salaries of retirees and the sponsorship network will be the first priority in financing and spending in all months before the three presidencies."
Al-Kaabi stressed, according to the statement, his assertion that "the salaries of retirees, social welfare and vulnerable groups are a red line and cannot be compromised under any circumstances."
He explained that "he stressed in all meetings of the Ministerial Council of the Economy and in all dialogues in which the economic crisis was discussed that the salaries of retirees and social welfare be far from the idea of deductions or any governmental or parliamentary decision in the future."
