Amnesty International: The new Iraqi government must ensure that human rights are at the center of its agenda

Amnesty International emphasized that [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/104369/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AD%D9%83%D9%88%D9%85%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%82%D9%8A%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AC%D8%AF%D9%8A%D8%AF%D8%A9]the new Iraqi government must[/url] ensure that [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/429/%D8%AD%D9%82%D9%88%D9%82 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5%D9%86%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86]human rights are[/url] placed at the center of its agenda, and change its position on impunity for decades.
In a letter to new Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazimi, she said: “After the government was sworn in, [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/722/%D9%85%D9%86%D8%B8%D9%85%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D9%81%D9%88 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A9]Amnesty International[/url] highlighted persistent concerns regarding the lack of accountability for the authorities’ violent response to protests last year and early this year,
”said the Iraq researcher . In Amnesty International, Razao Salehi, “This new government has an opportunity to ensure that [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/429/%D8%AD%D9%82%D9%88%D9%82 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5%D9%86%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86]human rights[/url] are promoted [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/429/%D8%AD%D9%82%D9%88%D9%82 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5%D9%86%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86]and[/url] protected in Iraq, after years of horrific violations.”
"The Iraqi people have paid a heavy price for decades of impunity, and so far they have only repeated hollow promises by the authorities. We welcome the government's commitment to hold accountable those responsible for killing protesters, and to give priority to meeting the needs of the internally displaced."
"These promises must now be transformed into immediate and meaningful measures, including addressing social and economic grievances that the Iraqi people have suffered for so long," Salehi stressed.
She added that "the rise in cases of domestic violence reported by the media and civil society organizations, which in some cases led to the death of some women and the severe injury of one of the girls, requires immediate action by the government to ensure that women and girls can access basic services, and provide them with protection "
