The Ministry of Electricity announced that the government is heading towards establishing a network of electrical connection lines with the Kingdom of Jordan and Turkey.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Abadi said in a press statement today, Saturday, that "Iraq needs a period ranging from 3 to 4 years for the purpose of achieving self-sufficiency in electrical energy." Supportive of the electricity sector, the existence of political support and the allocation of sufficient funds, as well as a popular understanding for the purpose of paying the levies.
He pointed out that the electricity sector costs the state annually $ 12 billion, calling on citizens to commit to paying the levies that are primarily subsidized by the government at 94%.
Al-Abadi explained that “the fuel plan includes the rehabilitation of the gas fields” Artawi, Khushm Al-Ahmar, Majnoon, crutch, and fields east of Basra and Diyala, and the rehabilitation of the pipeline network connected to the electrical stations.
