    The Ministry of Planning announced, on Monday, that two international companies will implement the suspended Baghdad train project, while the governor of Baghdad indicated that the idea of ​​the second phase of the project and the areas through which it will pass.
    Planning Minister Khaled Battal said in a statement reported by the official news agency "INA" and reviewed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "a meeting was held with the Ministry of Transport and Baghdad Governorate to finally agree to complete the technical procedures and start transferring the project from the governorate to the transport sector as it is the sectoral entity."
    He explained that "the project represents a quantum leap in the transportation service to Baghdad," referring to "inviting some investment companies to complete the sectors of the project, and we will obtain the approval of the Council of Ministers and final approval of it."
    He added that "the project will provide 10 thousand job opportunities for the people of Baghdad, in addition to job opportunities to operate the project after its completion."
    He pointed out that "the French company, Instel, in cooperation with the Korean company Hyundai, will complete the project, and its cost reaches one million euros, and it will be in the form of a loan, and the rest of the sections will be completed through investment."
    For his part, Baghdad Governor Muhammad Al-Atta said that "serious follow-up to the issue of the suspended train, as several issues have been raised and awaiting approval by the Prime Minister."
    "The train will pass through several areas, starting from Al-Sha`ab, passing through Al-Alawi and then Al-Kadhimiya," he said, noting that "the idea of ​​the second phase of the project was proposed to extend from Al-Bayaa to Al-Jadriya and Karrada."
