Arrest warrants issued against members of the Defense and Interior Ministry in connection with the killing of protesters and security men during the October protests

The Supreme Judicial Council confirmed that the competent investigative bodies issued arrest warrants against affiliates in the Ministries of Defense and Interior, against the background of killing protesters and security men during the protests in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] since October 2019.
The Judicial Council said that the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faik Zaidan, met today Thursday, National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji, Head of the National Security Service, Abdul-Ghani Al-Asadi, and Head of the Anti-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Abdul-Wahhab Al-Saadi, discussed the judicial procedures regarding incidents of martyrdom and injury of protesters and members of the security forces.
Zaidan confirmed, according to the statement: "The investigative bodies concerned with these cases issued a number of arrest warrants against a number of employees of the ministries of defense and interior, but under the Military Notices Law and the Internal Security Forces Notifications Law, the approval of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Interior must be obtained to implement these warrants."
He explained, "The Judicial Investigative Authority in Rusafa has summoned both the defense and interior ministers to inquire about information related to the investigation of these cases," pointing out: "There are a number of arrested officers pending investigation in these cases and others have been judged by the courts." The competent person is currently under scrutiny by the Court of Cassation.
