Agreement to establish the first phase in the port of Al-Faw and conclude five contracts

The General Company for Iraq Ports announced, on Sunday, that the large port of Faw has a maximum capacity of 90 berths, referring to the agreement to establish the first phase of the berths through the conclusion of five contracts.
The director of the company, Farhan Al-Fartousi, said in statements followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "all previous, current and future work are being carried out according to what was set by the Italian company that designed the project, and it will be implemented strictly according to what was planned."
He added, "The next few days will witness the falsehood of the conclusion of the five contracts and the actual direct action in them."
In turn, the director of the Al-Faw Port project, Asaad Abdel-Rahim, said, "The next stage includes the establishment of burial areas and the start of work on the construction of docks, buildings and infrastructure for the project, which is being negotiated at a value of two billion dollars and implemented by the same company."
He continued, "What has been accomplished from Al-Faw port and completing the breakwaters is the most difficult and most important stage of work, and that the rest of the work, if contracts are concluded, will be completed within a maximum period of 3 and a half years," noting that "there are other companies competing with Daewoo, most of which are Chinese companies."
