A statement quoted the general manager of the company, Kifah Hassan, as saying that "the two flights were carried out by two planes from the fleet of the national carrier, with 130 passengers traveling from the Mashhad airport terminal and 130 travelers from the Tehran airport terminal."
He indicated that the decision was taken according to the directives of the Minister of Transport, Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli, and after his prompt response to the appeal of the Iraqis present on Iranian lands, official approvals were obtained by the competent authorities to facilitate the return procedures after the Iranian Aviation Authority suspended the company's flights until October 8, 2020.
Hassan added, "All the arrivals on these flights have undergone medical examinations by the Iraqi Ministry of Health teams present at Baghdad International Airport, as well as the fogging of aircraft before and after the implementation of the flight according to the internationally approved regulations."
It is noteworthy that the Minister of Transport, Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli, had instructed the National Carrier Administration to allocate two flights to Iran to evacuate Iraqi citizens stranded on its soil against the background of the Iranian authorities ’decision to suspend Iraqi Airways flights to and from Iran, starting from 9/25/2020 until 10/8/2020. .
