[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Canadian Ministry of Defense said that it is aware of the recent events in Iraq, and that it is closely monitoring security threats.

"The recent attacks on a military base in Erbil have not affected the coalition forces," Defense Ministry spokeswoman Jessica Lamerandi said in a statement.

Six missiles landed near the headquarters of the International Coalition in Erbil, at 8:30 pm last Wednesday.

"All the force members there are safe, and we continue to monitor the situation closely with our allies and partners in the region," Lamirandi added.

Canada deployed its forces for the first time in Iraq, in October 2014, as ISIS was sweeping large swaths of land in Iraq.

In turn, Defense Minister Harjit Sagan expressed his continued support for the Iraq mission, adding: “We are aware of the recent events in Iraq and are closely watching security threats.” / End 9[/rtl]
