MPs from the Sairoun Alliance, Alaa al-Rubaie, revealed, on Monday, that the political blocs had almost agreed to the women's quota as a single electoral district after disagreements over the distribution of constituencies in the governorates of Kirkuk and Nineveh delayed the parliament’s approval of the controversial articles in the election law.
Al-Rubaie said in an interview followed by "the information", that "there is a" near-consensus "of the political blocs that the women's quota be a single electoral district, to ensure that their percentage is preserved in the upcoming elections.
He added, "The previous type of district according to the" Saint Lego "system, which stipulates that each province be one district, has become a thing of the past.
Al-Rubaie pointed out that “the blocs are about to agree on the form of districts according to the existing opinions of the political blocs, while the position of his“ Sairoun ”bloc is that each candidate has an electoral district, and this system is in place in many democratic countries, while the opinions of the political blocs vary on the clause. Districts, as there is an opinion calling for every district in the provinces to be an electoral district. End / 25
