The Retirement and Social Security Department at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs seeks to increase the salaries of retired workers, through an amendment to the Security Law, while indicating that this increase will include 250,000 workers.
The deputy director general of the department, Dhamia Salman Dawood, stated in a statement reported by Al-Sabah newspaper and seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the amendment to the Security Law No. 39 of 1971 was submitted to the Minister of Labor to be submitted to the Cabinet and then Parliament for approval.”
Dawood added, "The amendments include an increase in the salaries of retired workers and the legal age in addition to health insurance and other benefits."
She explained that "the number of retired workers amounts to 250 thousand workers whose salaries are paid in one payment every two months. Their salaries amount to approximately 15 billion dinars, and the minimum is calculated as 320 thousand dinars."
