Baghdad The Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee confirmed, on Sunday (February 21, 2021), that the salaries of employees are insured throughout the current year, and the return of low oil prices will not affect their exchange. Committee member Ali Saadoun said, in an interview with (Baghdad Today), that "the salaries of Iraqi state employees are secured for all months of 2021, and the return of the oil price decline will not affect the payment of employees' salaries, even if the price of a barrel of oil reaches 30 dollars or Less". Saadoun said, "All the information confirms that oil prices will remain constant at approximately $ 63, and may rise in the coming months, and will not collapse again, as happened in the last period." He pointed out that "this will be reflected positively on the economic and financial situation of Iraq in various sectors." A member of the Finance Committee, Naji Redis, on Sunday 21-2-2021, specified the reason for the delay in paying the employees' salaries this month, while he named the party responsible for the delay, according to his estimation. A member of the Finance Committee, Naji Redis, said in a press statement that “the employee’s salary payment notice was delayed due to the general conditions the country is going through from Corona and the comprehensive curfew,” noting that “salaries will not be delayed this month or the coming months and they are fully insured.” He emphasized that “Finance relies on the 1/12 system for the payment of salaries because the budget has not yet been approved, and the delay that accompanies the payment of salaries every month is borne by the Accounting Department at the Ministry of Finance for its reliance on old mechanisms in banking transactions, despite the modernity of the financial systems followed in the world and the Central Bank of Iraq In particular". He favored "making major changes in the accounting department at the ministry, as it still insists on using old methods instead of modern ones in sending salary payment notices to employees." Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Finance issued today, Sunday (February 21, 2021) a directive regarding employee salaries for the current month of February. "The ministry has directed the launch of financing the salaries of ministries and entities not associated with a ministry for the current month of February," the ministry’s media office said in a statement received (Baghdad Today). The statement added, "The Ministry of Finance directed today, the Accounting Department, to resume work from tomorrow, Monday, for the purpose of launching the funding of state employees' salaries for the month of February." Today, Sunday, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Jamal Cougar, spoke about the reasons for the Iraqi government's delay in paying employees' salaries. Cougar said in an interview with (Baghdad Today), "The delay in paying employees' salaries has nothing to do with the issue of delaying the approval of the 2021 budget, but rather this delay due to the lack of liquidity." He explained, "The government can borrow temporarily from the Central Bank of Iraq, or from other internal banks in order to disburse salaries." He continued, "Until now, there is no delay in paying employees' salaries, because from Friday to today it is an official holiday and a comprehensive curfew, and this delay is natural because of the holiday," pointing out that "salaries are not spent after crossing the 25th of this month, then here Be late disbursement. " He stressed, "The delay in approving the 2021 budget will not affect the payment of salaries in the coming months."
