Trump and his entourage face a major lawsuit 2-768x432-1

{International: Al Furat News} Democratic Representative in Congress, Eric Swallowell, filed a lawsuit against former US President Donald Trump, his eldest son and a number of his allies, over their supposed role in the period leading up to the storming of the US Capitol building on January 6.
The 65-page lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington, DC, Friday, accuses Trump, his son Donald Trump, Jr., Republican Attorney from Alabama, Mo Brooks, and Trump's attorney Rudolph Giuliani of inciting riots and violating a number of federal provisions and capital laws.
All of the defendants were among the speakers at a pro-Trump rally, which immediately preceded the storming of the bloody Capitol building on January 6th.
The lawsuit describes the fiery speeches during the rally as a turning point that culminated in a months-long disinformation campaign to advance the false claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump.

"The horrific events that occurred on January 6 were a direct and foreseeable consequence of the defendants' illegal actions," the complaint states. As such, "the accused are responsible for the injuries and destruction that followed."
The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary damages and requests a court order requiring Trump and his allies to provide notice at least a week before any future election rally in the capital.
Among the allegations in the nine-count complaint, the defendants conspired to prevent lawmakers and then Vice President Mike Pence from certifying that President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris won the election, in violation of the Federal Civil Rights Act.
Swallowell's lawsuit comes while Trump is also facing a criminal investigation in Georgia for "pressuring officials to cancel Biden's election victory," and he is also under investigation in New York for possible financial crimes and civil violations related to his business.

The complaint was filed less than a month after Trump was acquitted in a Senate trial over his role in the January 6 attack.
Swallowell, a former California district attorney, served as one of the House Accountability Directors for the Senate trial.
