The Biden order requires federal agencies to submit plans, within 200 days, that outline steps to expand voter registration and distribute electoral information to voters. He also directs the chief information officer in the United States to update the federal websites and digital services that provide such details.
Biden's order comes on the 56th anniversary of "Bloody Sunday" in 1965, when Alabama state forces and police attacked civil rights protesters in the city of Salamah, who were protesting racial discrimination at polling stations.
