Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Oil announced that Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar discussed the possibility of expanding the "Basra-Aqaba" pipeline project to Egypt, to be an important addition and a new outlet for Iraqi oil exports to North Africa .
The ministry’s media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar received the Egyptian ambassador in Baghdad, Ahmed Ismail . ”
According to the statement, the oil minister stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Egypt and increasing opportunities for development and joint work between the two countries, especially in the oil and gas sector, noting that "the ministry welcomes the contribution of Egyptian oil companies in implementing infrastructure projects in the oil sector."
The statement quoted Abdul-Jabbar as saying that "among the goals of the government and the ministry is to work to strengthen relations with the countries of the world, the region and neighboring countries, especially with the brothers in Egypt," noting that "this falls within their priorities, especially in the development and strategic projects that serve the interest of the two brotherly peoples."
He referred to "discussing the timetable for implementing the Basra-Aqaba pipeline project" and the possibility of expanding it to Egypt to be an important addition and a new outlet for Iraqi oil exports to North Africa.
For his part, the Egyptian ambassador praised the "government and the ministry's keenness to enhance bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries," appreciating the ministry's role in working to expand and increase cooperation opportunities with Egyptian companies.
