Amer Al-Fayez, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, affirmed that “Turkish violations on Iraqi lands and entering their lands are considered an occupation,” stressing the need for the Iraqi government to summon the Turkish ambassador and deliver him a protest note and then go to the international security to file a complaint.
Al-Fayez said in a statement to “Khabar Press”, that “our committee has asked the government several times to summon the Turkish ambassador and inform him of the Iraqi government's rejection and denunciation of the Turkish attacks on Iraqi lands,” stressing the need for “the Iraqi government to press in several directions, including reducing or stopping economic dealings until they commit themselves. The Turkish government is the biggest pressure factor, and stopping it causes great damage to Turkey.
He pointed out that “there is another procedure by submitting a complaint to the United Nations and the Arab League to unify a common position and use all diplomatic methods to stop these abuses,” explaining that “the entry of Turkish forces into Iraqi lands is an occupation, and Iraq must submit a complaint to the Security Council in the event that the government does not comply. Turkish diplomatic means ”.
He added that "Iraq can resort to the Security Council after the Iraqi government submits protest notes and summons the Turkish ambassador to Iraq and informs him of this matter, and if it continues to violate again, there is nothing left for Iraq to file an official complaint before the Security Council.
