Reaper Ahmed said in a press conference, "The perpetrators of the recent Erbil attack are not in the Kurdistan Region, and they infiltrated from behind the army forces' stationing points. There is a joint investigation between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government, and we will announce the results of the investigation upon reaching anything new."
And he stated that "the Erbil attack was carried out by means of a drone, and this is a dangerous development to target civilians and the coalition forces, and all political parties in the Kurdistan region and Iraq condemned this attack."
The Minister of the Interior indicated that "investigations are underway to find out the destination and source from which the drone was launched," noting that "the Kurdistan Regional Government has confirmed that the deteriorating conditions in the border areas are due to external conflicts, and we demand that all parties solve their problem outside Iraq."
He added, "Foreign conflicts have a great impact on the lives of citizens, so we call on all parties to solve their problems outside the borders of the Kurdistan Region.
He added, "Unfortunately, the security gaps that exist between the Peshmerga forces and the army forces have become a safe haven for terrorist groups, and we are in continuous dialogue with the federal government to address this matter and we will continue our dialogues until a joint operations room is formed to prevent terrorists from taking advantage of these security gaps."
He explained, "Those terrorist operations and targeting the city of Erbil are to sabotage the progress, security and stability that the Kurdistan region enjoys, in addition to targeting the international coalition forces stationed at Erbil airport, and we are in constant dialogue with the federal government so that Erbil does not become a place for settling external conflicts."
