    The Chinese company (Sinopec) won the contract to develop the Mansouriya gas field in Diyala province, and this came after its participation in the licensing round organized by the ministry today, Tuesday, under the patronage and presence of the Minister of Oil, Chairman of the Supervising Committee, the Ministry's agents, general managers and competing companies.
    Oil Minister Ihsan Abdel Jabbar Ismail said in a statement that “one of the ministry’s priorities is to develop the gas industry and optimal investment for gas in addition to developing the refining and refining sector in the country. It aims to invest in free gas and to benefit from it in maximizing the national production of gas by adding 300 Mqmqs per day, which is the expected and planned energy, as well as providing fuel to electric power plants.
    The minister called on the winning company of the field development contract and the concerned authorities in the ministry to "accelerate the procedures for signing the contract to start the development processes to take advantage of the country's available energies of gas and invest it to achieve economic development."
    Ismail pointed out that "the ministry encourages investment in the gas sector, and we are working on concluding contracts with international foreign companies to develop gas fields and build gas processing facilities in Basra, Maysan, Dhi Qar and Anbar," stressing the ministry's keenness to "provide the appropriate environment for work in the oil and gas sector."
    The Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs Karim Hattab said, “The Ministry of Oil, through its efforts to organize the licensing round, has established discussion of the development of the Mansouriya gas field to the Chinese company (Sinopec) for submission of the lowest bids. , Referring to the contract will be (51%) in favor of the Central Oil Company, the representative of the Ministry of Oil, and (49%) in favor of the winning company, explaining that the importance of developing the field comes to secure the need for electric power plants from gas.
    The Director General of the Contracts and Licenses Department, Ali Maarij, said, “The Ministry, through the Contracts Department, prepared and prepared to organize a new licensing round to award a contract to develop the Mansouriya gas field in accordance with the legal procedures followed in this regard. The companies were invited and (8) companies were qualified to participate in the competition, and a company won ( Chinese Sinopec after submitting a bid of (23.88) as a participation rate in profitability, knowing that this percentage was divided into (51%) to the government partner Central Oil Company and (49%) to the winning Chinese company, and it was the lowest bid offered.
    Maarij pointed out that “the basic features of the field development contract confirm the ownership of natural resources within the field and the products of them for the Iraqi people. The contractor will finance all exploration, evaluation, development and production activities, and that the contract period is (25) years with the possibility of extension for another (5) years, and the company will be committed according to For the contract that will be concluded with it to develop two wells, in addition to its pledge to provide training opportunities, modern technology, and job opportunities for the people of Diyala Governorate and purchase of local goods and services. The contract and all its parties and subcontractors are subject to Iraqi law.
    For his part, Assistant General Manager of the Central Oil Company, Quduri Abdel Salim, said, “The Mansouriya gas field is one of the very important fields for the production of free gas. Day, down to the desired energy. "
    The spokesman for the ministry, Asim Jihad, said, “The Mansouriya field is one of the important gas fields where the ministry has worked for years to develop it, and it was referred to the consortium of companies that won a contract to develop it in 2010, but due to the security conditions at the time, the companies withdrew from the rehabilitation and development process, and today we have succeeded. In the re-presentation of his bid to compete in a new licensing round, the competition process was open and transparent, in the presence of the minister, agents and general managers of the companies and departments concerned, and the presence of the competing companies, to begin a new phase of the development processes for this gas field, and important steps will follow during the coming period. The Chinese company (Sinopec) won the contract to develop the field, which will provide gas supplies to electric power plants and gas-related industries.
