Saleh confirms Iraq’s desire to be a pivot for establishing stability in the region
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Iraqi President Barham Salih stressed, on Wednesday, the importance of easing tensions in the region, and for Iraq to be a pivot in promoting security and stability .
A statement by the Presidency of the Republic stated, "Saleh received, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Russian ambassador to Iraq, Maxim Maximov, on the occasion of the end of his work, and the meeting discussed bilateral relations that bring the two countries together and ways to enhance and expand cooperation and joint action in various fields in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two countries ."
The regional and international developments of common interest were also reviewed, where the commitment of dialogue to enhance regional security and peace was emphasized .
The President of the Republic stressed "the need for concerted regional and international efforts to combat terrorism, and to reduce tensions that negatively affect the opportunities for development and prosperity for the peoples of the region, and the importance of joint action and overcoming outstanding issues and for Iraq to be a pivot in promoting security and stability ."
For his part, the Russian ambassador renewed "his country's support for the stability of Iraq and the strengthening of its sovereignty, and the desire to strengthen the bonds of relations in all fields."
