An Iraqi source revealed, on Thursday, that the elections scheduled to take place on the tenth of next October may be delayed by 10 days from the specified date.
The source said, "There are those who are pushing for the elections to be postponed for more than ten days, but until now there is no official approval or announcement."
He stressed, "The elections will be postponed according to what is being considered within the government corridors, and the proposed delay is ten days."
The Iraqi government set the sixth of next June as the date for the early elections, but postponed it to the tenth of October of the same year.
A few days ago, Iraqi President Barham Salih discussed with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, the need for effective coordination between the two sides to ensure international monitoring of the upcoming elections.
