    Baghdad - IQ
The head of the Iraqi Authority for the Control of Radioactive Sources, Kamal Hussein Latif, revealed that "the governmental committee for building nuclear reactors for research purposes has held several preliminary meetings to study the stage data and approved bases for building the reactors, in accordance with the guidelines of the International Energy Agency."
He added, "It was agreed to write a memorandum of understanding that included many items that will contribute to speeding up the construction of the reactors," noting that "there is another meeting with officials in the French embassy to talk about Iraq's need and need for electron-nuclear reactors."
Latif stressed, in a press statement, that «the French side is eager to work with Iraq in the field of the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and we are waiting for it to obtain full approvals so that we can know the details of cooperation, as it will be in accordance with the terms of a memorandum of understanding also that includes support and support for Iraq in the field of medical use as well as for production. Energy ».
After the Iraqi Authority for the Control of Radioactive Sources announced the existence of understandings with three countries to accelerate the construction of Iraqi nuclear reactors, questions were raised about the possibility of solving the problem of electricity using nuclear energy, and the extent to which this would be applied to permanently close the file of the electricity problem, especially since Iraq is on the verge of the summer season and rates The temperature in it exceeds 50 degrees Celsius .
The nuclear fission reactor can be used to generate electricity, and according to specialists, this type of reactor gives thermal energy that can be used in generating steam to manage and operate the turbines for generating electricity .
The head of the Baghdad Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainability, Muhammad Shaker, said that "compensating for the shortfall in the supply of the national electricity system from nuclear energy is required, but it also depends on the speed of building the reactor and enriching uranium for peaceful purposes."
Al-Sabah newspaper quoted Shaker as saying that "the most appropriate solution now is to complete the electrical connection with neighboring countries, which have a surplus in energy, as quickly as possible to alleviate the summer pressure on energy consumption." By encouraging citizens to use clean energy to compensate for the lack of electricity.
Iraq uses gas stations to generate electricity, but on the other hand it did not invest the presence of large quantities of associated gas to operate these stations, as it did not achieve the feasibility when importing gas from neighboring countries while gas is being burned in vain, and in this regard Shaker stressed the importance of Iraq having a strategy The clean energy that has come to achieve double benefits besides generating electric power, is invested here, and it is possible to benefit from global and regional experiences in this approach that has begun to be adopted by various countries of the world, especially that Iraq has the requirements for the advancement of clean energy, whether it is solar energy or wind corridors ».
