Shafaq News / The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee announced, on Wednesday, a move to connect the ports of Basra with Turkey via the railway line.
A member of the committee, Mudhar Khazal Al-Azirjawi, told Shafaq News, "The Faw port project consists of five projects, and each project has its own specificity and mechanism for its work," indicating that "there is a move to link a road between the port of Faw and Umm Qasr."
He added, "We are waiting for a real stop for the technical cadres to complete the Faw port project, which will be considered Iraq's second economic gateway to the world due to the utmost importance of linking the East and the West," noting that "the funds allocated for the project to the budget law, which are 750 billion dinars, are sufficient to work at the port during the current year."
Al-Azirjawi pointed out that "the parliamentary services and reconstruction committee had previously hosted the director general of the railways to discuss the importance of completing the railway project. It is hoped that it will link the ports in Basra Governorate with the Turkish side."
