Transport Minister Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli revealed a request by Gulf countries to invest in the large port of Faw in Basra Governorate, which is being implemented at a good pace in its early stages.
Al-Shibli said in press statements that the countries of Qatar and the UAE have requested investment in building berths in the future or participating in the management of the Faw port, which confirms that the port will be an important economic gateway and will compete with the ports overlooking the Gulf.
He added that the port will witness the construction of ninety berths in the future, as it will be one of the largest and most important ports in the region, and that its capacity reaches three million containers. The Minister of Transport, Nasser Al-Shibli, indicated that the Al-Faw port will provide large sums to Iraq, which pushes the current government to go ahead with the challenge of completing it
