On Monday, the Ministry of Agriculture announced the details of the agreement with the Kurdistan region to control the borders and the agricultural calendar.
Agriculture Minister Muhammad Karim al-Khafaji said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, which was followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the percentage of government control over the border crossings from Basra Governorate to Diyala, except for the Kurdistan region, reaches 80%."
He added that "a meeting will soon be held with the region to discuss border control," noting that "we have reached an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture of the region to control the borders and agree on the agricultural calendar."
He added that "vegetable crops were exported abroad due to a production surplus," noting that "there will be an application for export licenses, whether potatoes, tomatoes, or others."
