The Parliamentary Finance Committee announced its rejection of the government's appeal to the articles that it had amended during discussions of the 2021 budget bill.
An informed government source told Al-Iqtisad News that the government had lodged an appeal with 40 articles in the 2021 budget with the Federal Court.
The Media Department of the House of Representatives said, in a press statement received by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the Finance Committee headed by Representative Haitham Al-Jubouri and the attendance of its members today, held a meeting in which it discussed the appeals submitted by the government to some texts in the Federal Budget Law for 2021. "
The committee discussed in the meeting held at its headquarters in the presence of the financial advisor to the House of Representatives and the Director General of the Legal Department, "the reasons that prompted the government to appeal some of the budget texts, as the committee expressed its astonishment at the appeals that would deprive the oil-producing provinces such as Basra, Maysan, Dhi Qar and Kirkuk from their petrodollar allocations ."
The committee was surprised, according to the statement, about "an appeal in which the government rejects an article that it has added intending to increase the purchase prices of wheat, barley and rice crops from farmers, confirming that this article was added in fairness to the farmers' segment and in support of the agricultural sector, explaining that many of the materials added in the budget were an application." In practice, for the ministerial platform presented by the government.
