, legal expert, Mosaddeq Adel, confirmed today, Wednesday, that what is rumored about the parliament’s intention to legislate a new general amnesty law, are just media storms for several reasons.

Adel said in an interview with Alsumaria News, "What is rumored about the parliament's intention to legislate a new law for general amnesty or amend the current law is something that cannot be talked about now, given that all the proposals put forward within the parliament are two drafts, the first of which is a proposal for an exception. Some crimes from the general amnesty law and the second provides for the replacement of freedom-depriving penalties for less than five years with a financial amount of twenty thousand dinars for each day of imprisonment.

Adel explained that "what is rumored today about the parliament's launch of a draft general amnesty law are just media whirlwinds that do not find a basis for them in light of the parliament issuing a decision to dissolve itself on the seventh of next October, and such laws need extensive studies, political agreement and the opinion of the parliament." The judiciary and the private authorities concerned with the prison issue to know the number of prisoners and the quality of their cases, all of which need much longer than the remaining period of the current parliament.
