The Iraq Future Foundation for Economic Studies said in a statement that the agency {Euphrates News} received a copy of it, that "despite the launch of mobile phone networks for 4G services since the beginning of this year, this service did not reflect positively on companies from a financial point of view."
She added, "Both Zain and Asiacell announced a decline in their revenues for the first quarter of the year by approximately 26% and a decline in net profits of -8% for Asiacell and more than 34% for Zain."
"The average monthly consumption of the user on the Asiacell network also decreased from 8200 dinars during the first quarter of last year to 7800 dinars in the first quarter of this year," she added.
She noted, "As for the average monthly consumption of the user on the Zain network, it decreased from 6300 dinars during the first quarter of last year to 5500 dinars in the first quarter of this year."
The Iraq Foundation noted that "despite the great competition witnessed in the first quarter of the year in the field of advertisements and offers between the two companies, it was unable to achieve growth in revenues, especially with some offers that were attracting users, including unlimited Internet offers."
She pointed out, "The change in the dollar exchange rate affected the purchasing power of users and thus led to a decline in the revenues of the two companies compared to the same period last year."
