    {Political: Al Furat News} British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hickey affirmed on Thursday his country's readiness to provide support for the success of the upcoming Iraqi elections.
    A statement by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, which {Euphrates News} received a copy of, stated, "The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi, received the British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hickey, on the occasion of the end of his period of work in Iraq." 
    Al-Ghazi stressed, "The Iraqi government is fully prepared to hold the parliamentary elections on the date that was set on the tenth of next October, and that it has worked to create the appropriate atmosphere to hold them," praising "the role played by the British ambassador during his tenure in Iraq over the period." He dealt positively with the Iraqi file in various fields, wishing him success in his next mission. 
    British Ambassador Hickey expressed Britain's readiness to provide support to the Iraqi government and the Independent High Electoral Commission, through diplomatic channels, for the success of democratic practice, praising the positive results achieved during the British Foreign Secretary's visit to Iraq last week.
