The Labor and Social Affairs Committee suggested, on Tuesday, reading and voting on the Social Security Law during the upcoming parliament sessions, stressing that it will guarantee the pension rights of workers in the private sector and grant them privileges similar to state employees.
Committee member MP Fadel Jaber Al-Fatlawi said, in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "the Social Security Law is one of the important laws that the House of Representatives seeks in its current session to legislate, as it grants high privileges to workers in the private sector, and supports vital sectors such as industrial, agricultural and others. ".
He added, "The law will guarantee pension rights for workers and all workers in private sector institutions," noting that "the law obliges the employer to pay small amounts in order to guarantee his right in the future."
He pointed out that "the law calculates a retirement service for the worker as is the case for a government employee and gives him high privileges," stressing, "It is one of the important laws that most countries of the world and even neighboring countries work with, but it supports the private sector and provides job opportunities for the unemployed."
He explained, "The law will revive the private sector, provide job opportunities for youth and graduates, and reduce the burden on the state, because the demand for government jobs will decrease and the private sector will become more popular," noting that "the law will also include women."
Al-Fatlawi added that "the legislation of the law will control the management of work in the Iraqi state, where there are more than one million foreign workers who entered the country illegally, which has affected the Iraqi youth, and increased unemployment rates, as the law will put an end to that."
He pointed out that "there are extensive meetings and discussions by the relevant committees, where the labor, financial and legal committees participate, in the hope that the law will be completed and read first and second and then vote on it in the upcoming sessions, to reach a law that provides service to the workers segment in the country."
