, the director of media and relations for the Iraqi "SOMO" oil company, Haider Al-Kaabi, revealed, on Wednesday, the latest developments in the Iraqi oil export file to Lebanon.
Al-Kaabi said in a press interview, "Coordination is currently taking place between the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Iraq and the Ministry of Oil to prepare the final version of the agreement for the purpose of signing it between the two sides, after which the sales contract will be signed by the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company with the authorized authority of the Lebanese government."
He explained that this comes based on Cabinet Resolution No. 183 of 2021, which includes providing assistance to the brotherly Lebanese people by selling one million tons / year of the fuel oil product. The decision authorized the Iraqi Minister of Finance, Abdul Amir Allawi, to sign the agreement with the Lebanese side.
The "SOMO" company is considered the institution responsible for marketing oil in Iraq, and it is the only official body authorized under the laws in force to conclude contracts for the export of crude oil, as well as contracts for the export and import of oil derivatives.
