The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, confirmed that the British Serco Company does not provide any service to Iraqi air navigation.
Al-Kaabi said in a televised interview, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "there is great interest on the part of the House of Representatives in the issue of Iraqi air navigation at the level of members of the Council and the specialized committees," noting that "there are several meetings held at the invitation of the First Deputy Chairman of the Council in the presence of the Air Navigation Company, As it turned out that there was a contract with the British company Serco amounting to 25 million dollars annually.
He added, "The British company did not provide any service to the Iraqi state, but it was providing contracts in a contrary and unrealistic manner," pointing out that "the Iraqi Air Navigation Company, which is more than 75 years old, is the one that manages navigation with distinguished, efficient and patriotic Iraqi cadres, and they receive salaries from the Iraqi state and do not They charge a dollar from the British company."
Al-Kaabi indicated that "in the past periods, there was an opportunity to lose the national and humanitarian sense of the Iraqi employee, as it was difficult for the director of the navigation company or any employee to officially announce his competence and ability to manage this file," stressing that "the head of the Iraqi Air Navigation Company was summoned." And members of the board of directors and representatives of the concerned authorities, and we listened to the competence and ability of the Iraqi employee."
He continued, "The Iraqi company was able to enter 100 planes into Iraqi airspace, which the British company was unable to enter, not even one additional plane, despite the pandemic conditions and the lack of movement of the two planes across Iraq and the world."
He went on to say: "The representative of the prime minister was summoned and told: Why does the government go to the British company and offer it this gift and this gift without return to the Iraqi people, isn't this considered one of the doors of corruption and a waste of public money?"
