The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands confirmed that the coordinating committee between it and the ministries of agriculture and water resources was able to secure the water quota for two agricultural seasons for the rye crop, in addition to an agreement with local governments to provide liquefied water to the governorates.
Committee member Ali Al-Budairi said in an interview: “The committee worked in high coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources in order to provide the water quota,” noting that “the treatment is available and that there is enough water for two agricultural seasons, which is available in the lakes as an important strategic storage that is used at times. Water scarcity, which is available in Tharthar Lake and the rest of the water reservoirs.”
He added, "There is complete reassurance from the committee and the ministries of agriculture and water resources regarding the treatment of water scarcity expected in the coming days," noting that "the coordinating committee between the committee and the two ministries is working around the clock in order to save water and remove the specter of water scarcity, especially that the rye crop season At the door, the ministry worked to secure the water quota for the first and second regimes, especially in the governorates of Najaf and Diwaniyah, in addition to an agreement with local governments to provide liquefied water to the governorates.
And he indicated that “the reason for the water scarcity started from the Turkish side’s control of reducing the internationally recognized share and within the international agreements and protocols, in addition to the fact that the Syrian side also took from the Iraqi water share, and that the tributaries and rivers on the Iranian side were closed permanently, which affects the water share of Iraq.” “.
