{Local;: Al Furat News} Baghdad governorate complains of a shortage of electricity, in light of the need for an additional 3,000 megawatts, while calling for emergency lines to be removed from their share.

The Deputy Governor for Services Affairs, Arkan Al-Bayati, said in a press interview, "Baghdad's share of the national electric power is 4,000 megawatts, but its actual need is 7,000 megawatts."
He added that "1600-1700 megawatts of the governorate's share have been allocated to emergency lines for departments and institutions that are excluded from cutting, and therefore the net amount of energy that reaches citizens is close to 2500 megawatts only."
Al-Bayati stated that "the governorate proposed that the Ministry of Electricity allocate lines for the excluded circuits away from the capital's share, so that most of the prescribed percentage would reach the citizens, and thus solve a large part of the problem."
