[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / - The Parliamentary Strategic Planning and Government Program Follow-up Committee criticized Ministerial Order No. (5), which was issued by Finance Minister Ali Allawi early this month to form a central committee headed by him to follow up the implementation of tax system reforms in the General Tax Authority.

Committee member MP Kazem Al-Hamami indicated that the Ministry of Finance’s reforms included 11 paragraphs focused on improving the tax system, amending the examination and audit procedures for the tax authority’s data, redirecting the directors of its main departments, examining its records, reviewing its accounts, modifying its administrative paths, and addressing the failures of the real estate appraisal committees.

He added, in a press statement, that "the lapses and pitfalls that the Ministry of Finance seeks to address in its white paper were among the witnessed accumulations in the time of the former tax director, and that the Ministry of Finance was alerted to these lapses and rushed to address them after his departure," noting that "this director, who accumulated in his time, Goofs, with the testimony of the Ministry of Finance itself, is now the new director of the Customs Authority."

He explained, "Any follower of the reform clauses will discover for himself the magnitude of the failures committed by the tax authority, which necessitated the intervention of the minister himself with a white reform paper," wondering, "what do we expect from the customs authority?" / End 5[/rtl]

On Saturday, the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Investment considered that the government’s announcement of the implementation of the white paper led to a rise in market prices, noting the government’s weakness in following up on the market and ignoring the increase in food prices.

Committee member Nada Shaker Jawdat said, "After every initiative from the government and the announcement of the white paper, the market is witnessing a significant rise in food and reserve prices, the last of which was last week without any increase in foreign currency."

She pointed out that "the simple citizen is the only one affected by the rise in prices and foodstuffs in the market," at the same time holding the government "responsible for what is happening, its weak executive role, and ignoring the increase in food prices."
