A member of the Media and Communications Committee in the House of Representatives, Rezan Sheikh Dler, demanded, on Monday, the suspension of the work of mobile phone companies until the debts accumulated on them, amounting to one trillion and 460 billion dinars, are paid.
Sheikh Dler said in an interview with the newspaper "Al-Sabah" and followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the prices of mobile phone services in Iraq are very high compared to neighboring countries, regional countries and even the world," noting that "these companies do not provide any facilities or suitable offers to citizens since their establishment until right Now".
She added, "These companies refuse to pay the accumulated debts and taxes imposed on them since 2014 until now, and we do not know what is the reason for this. However, they illegally renewed the work contract in Iraq and started working with the G4 system instead of the G3, which required payment of other amounts from These companies are accepted into the state treasury without this being done.”
Sheikh Dler indicated that "the committee demanded that these companies stop their work until they pay their debts and taxes to the state treasury."
For his part, a member of the Government Program Monitoring and Strategic Planning Committee, Eng. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, said that "the pleadings are continuing until last week" regarding the lawsuit he filed against the Media and Communications Authority.
Al-Sudani indicated that he filed a second lawsuit at the beginning of this year against the authority after issuing the appeal decision that prevented the renewal of the work permit and the operation of fourth-generation services in Iraq. He added, "Despite this decision, the authority considered it a victory for it with the mobile phone companies and the renewal of the work permit and the operation of the fourth generation without paying the debts, related to the decisions of the Board of Appeal, amounting to one trillion dinars, and the comprehensive service rate of 460 billion dinars," noting that "the authority committed a violation by renewing contracts." Contrary to the appeal decision.
