The new US Consul General in Erbil, Robert Palladino, confirmed that the Kurdistan region is a strategic ally of the United States in the region.
This came during the reception of the new consul by the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, in a meeting in which the two sides discussed the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government and the upcoming Iraqi legislative elections, as well as the strategic dialogue between the United States and Iraq, and the importance of the effective participation of the Kurdistan Region in this dialogue.
The US consul stressed that his country will continue to support the Kurdistan region, especially the Peshmerga forces, as well as its keenness to enhance American investments in the region.
