    {Political: Al-Furat News} Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed, on Saturday, with the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs-Minister of Interior Elva Johansson, the affairs of Iraqi asylum seekers in Europe.

    And the ministerial statement, which {Al-Furat News} received a copy of, stated, "During the meeting, which was held via closed circuit television, the conditions of Iraqi immigrants and asylum seekers to the European Union were discussed."
    Hussein explained that "the migrants need care from the European Union, help them reduce their suffering, and find joint mechanisms to start a dialogue regarding asylum seekers in the European Union countries who have obtained return decisions from the European Union."
    He added, "The phenomenon of migration and displacement is witnessed by the world from time to time, due to the challenges that peoples suffer from that target their security and stability."
    Hussein also praised the governments that received Iraqi immigrants, saying that "it is a humanitarian act, and we look with all respect and appreciation for any country that opened its lands to Iraqi immigrants, and we consider it a positive position."
    He pointed out that "the Iraqi constitution provides for freedom of movement and travel for the Iraqi citizen," stressing "the need to secure the requirements of Iraqi refugees, explaining that Iraq encourages and supports the voluntary return of citizens who wish to return and rejects forced return."
    For her part, Elva Johansson offered her condolences to the government and people of Iraq for the tragic fire of Imam Hussein Hospital in Nasiriyah, which killed dozens of citizens.
    And she stressed, "The European Commission supports voluntary return and provides assistance in returning migrants and integrating them into society upon their return, and that the Commission is ready to cooperate with those who refuse to return after obtaining return decisions."
