The spokesman for Harakat al-Nujaba, Nasr al-Shammari, announced on Monday that the American presence, with all its classifications and addresses, is no different, stressing that foreign forces will be targets for the “resistance” weapon, regardless of its classification and address..
Al-Shammari explained in a televised interview, followed by NRTArabiya, (July 26, 2021), that “the reasons for the opposition of the “resistance factions” to the position of the Iraqi Foreign Minister regarding the American presence in Iraqi lands,” citing the words of specialists and security officials, saying: The interim Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense and the National Security Adviser emphasized that Iraq does not need foreign forces to ensure its stability and has sufficient forces and capabilities in this regard."
Al-Shammari considered Fouad Hussein's statements as "contradicting the positions of security officials," noting, "We were surprised that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, instead of referring to what specialists dictated, talks about Iraq's need for American forces and advisors in parentheses."
Pointing out that, "We must confirm that this foreign minister, before assuming his position, publicly stated that he does not believe in Iraq's sovereignty or in the government under the title of Iraq, and he hopes that Iraq will be shaky and insecure to achieve its separatist goals.".
He pointed out, "The collapse of the Iraqi military and security services after the ISIS attack, and when Iraq was in dire need of American forces and advisors, they had no influence and their presence was not a source of any benefit or assistance."
Al-Shammari stressed that "the Americans are changing the addresses of their presence in Iraq to deceive public opinion," and asked: "What is the benefit of changing the address of the occupier to an advisor? The American forces are present on Iraqi soil, and there is no difference that this presence is under any name and under what pretext?"
Al-Shammari stressed, "We have informed the American side of the necessity of withdrawing all foreign forces from Iraq," adding, however, that the Americans confirm the opposite and say that the Iraqi government demands that foreign forces remain. I'm sorry for saying that word; But one side is lying, and I think the Americans have more credibility.”.
At the conclusion of his television interview, Nasr al-Shammari reiterated that "from the point of view of the al-Nujaba movement, things have not changed much and Iraq does not need American soldiers. Therefore, we clearly declare that we continue to consider the American forces as targets for the resistance weapon under any title or description.".
