    {Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Culture revealed discussions with the United States of America to restore the "largest part" of the Iraqi archive.

    Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Olaywi said in a press statement, "The Iraqi effort, represented by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Iraqi embassy in America has been working for a while, in order to recover a very large group of archaeological pieces, numbering 17,000 pieces, which are clay tablets and numbers." ancient Sumerian.
     
    He explained that "the effort and communication with the United States of America resulted, after about a year, in assembling the pieces in American auctions and universities, in order to return them to Iraq," noting that "these pieces will be packaged and returned with the Iraqi delegation tomorrow, Thursday, to Baghdad."
     
    As for the Iraqi archive, Al-Alawi confirmed that "part of it has been recovered, and it is currently preserved in a place at Baghdad International Airport, to check on it."
    He pointed out that "there are talks with the United States of America to restore the bulk of the Iraqi archive, which is in universities, centers and the US Department of Defense," noting that "there are millions of documents in the Iraqi archive."
     
    The spokesman for the Ministry of Culture stressed that "the Iraqi archive is Iraq's right, and no country has the right to own it, and this has been internationally confirmed in this regard."
    The Iraqi government announced yesterday, Tuesday, that it is in the process of recovering 17,000 antiquities at once arriving in the country from the United States, in the largest recovery operation of its kind it has implemented.
    The government spokesman, Hassan Nazim, said that the Iraqi delegation in America will bring with it 17,000 antiquities, noting that these pieces were recovered from the United States and other countries.
