{Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Health and Environment confirmed that the tests proved that the (Delta) strain is the main cause of the epidemic wave currently sweeping the country, while warning of new epidemic waves as a result of the virus's ability to mutate many times.

And the Ministry of Health recorded 24,000 injuries during the past two days, in a toll that Iraq has not recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Director of the Public Health Department, Riyadh Al-Halfi, said in a press interview, "The tests that were conducted in laboratories outside and inside the country proved that the main reason for the expansion of infections currently recorded in Corona is the Delta strain."
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health had recently announced that it had not been scientifically proven that infections with the mutated virus (Delta) had been recorded in Iraq so far, as reference laboratories to the World Health Organization were relied upon, and that within days the trial operation of the national laboratories would begin after being updated with the aim of enabling them to detect This strain.
In turn, the director of Karkh health media, Ziad Hazem, said that "the high infections currently recorded, most of them are due to unvaccinated people, especially in densely populated areas."
He added, "The department recently recorded 1,949 injuries within 24 hours on the Karkh side, and the numbers are escalating, and even hospitals were filled with Corona patients, including Dar al-Salaam for isolation, which witnessed crowds of injured and the lack of vacancies."
Hazem expected "new epidemic waves to occur with the change of the virus, as it can mutate many times and successive waves occur."
He stated that "coronavirus strains are subjected to mutated genetic mutations that are either positive that weaken the virus, or negative, which is severe and rapidly spreading, and this is what made the new strain (Delta) rapidly spreading and contagious."
Several countries have recently recorded a new mutated strain called (lambda) that was discovered in Latin America and 29 other countries that exceeded the "alpha and delta" mutation in terms of transmissibility, speed and level of risk, and it is more deadly than the "delta" virus, and the World Health Organization warned against its spread.
For her part, a member of the media medical team of the Ministry of Health, Ruba Falah Hassan, said, "All vaccines are free of any live virus for Corona, meaning that the vaccinated person is not contagious or transmitting viruses to others, but he must adhere to preventive measures until the completion of vaccination with two doses and the formation of immunity after Two weeks after receiving the second dose.
With regard to the recommendations of the Higher Advisory Committee for the Immunization Program, Falah explained that the committee recommended the inclusion of lactating women in vaccination because there are no risks to infants. Rare side effects, in addition to giving Sinopharm to people over 60 years old.
