Baghdad - Salam al-Jaf
Various Iraqi political forces continue their warnings against holding the  [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]  on their scheduled date on the tenth of next October, just two days after the “Communist Party” joined the list of those boycotting the elections, following the “civil forces” and the “Sadr movement.”
The forces calling for the postponement are promoting that the circumstance is not suitable for holding the elections, trying to link them to the security file, which is witnessing a noticeable decline, at a time when parties standing against the postponement confirmed that these forces are seeking to exploit crises to push for the postponement.

Although the Iraqi Electoral Commission has gone through its technical procedures to hold the elections on time, many believe that the influence enjoyed by the forces that do not want the date will push for a delay.
Those who oppose the elections and those who withdrew from it rely on what they call “the uncontrolled weapons of the militias, and the political money that entered early in the elections, as well as the lack of guarantees that the fraud in the 2018 elections will not be repeated.”

And the “Al-Fateh” alliance, the political wing of the “Popular Mobilization” factions, recently entered the line of skeptics and advocates for postponing the elections, as coalition representative Mahdi Taqi warned of the dangerous security situation in the country and its effects on the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Taqi said, in a press statement, yesterday, Sunday, that "the security situation in Iraq is witnessing a serious deterioration, amid a decline in security performance in various regions of the country, which will open new loopholes for ISIS elements to launch their terrorist attacks, whether on citizens or on security forces." “.
He added, "This dangerous security retreat will certainly have negative results on the holding of parliamentary elections, or even on the issue of turnout and popular participation in them, as citizens cannot vote without security stability."
He stressed the demand of the security authorities to “take several measures to restore security in all cities, by activating the intelligence effort, in addition to the need to make security changes.”
For his part, a senior official in the Electoral Commission told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed today, Monday, that the preparations made by the High Elections Commission are continuing, confirming the signing of agreements related to the printing of ballot papers and voter lists, indicating that the commission continues its preparations within the specified time along with the government and the UN mission. The United States supports the holding of the elections on the tenth of next October.
In this context, MP Asaad Al-Murshidi, a member of the “Iraqis” coalition led by Ammar Al-Hakim, warned of the danger of the continuation of the announcement of personalities and political parties to boycott the elections, stressing that “these parties continue to talk about postponement, withdrawal and the inability to hold the elections will give an incentive for more parties to move towards postponement.” It will also expand the circle of citizens’ reluctance to participate, and push them to a greater boycott.”
Al-Murshidi considered, in a statement, that "this will also give non-positive messages to the international community about the impartiality of the electoral process, and will push for some international parties to withdraw their hand from Iraq in various fields, including the electoral one."

The former deputy of the Victory Alliance, Sadiq Al-Muhanna, ruled out holding the elections on time, and told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that “there is no possibility to hold the elections on time (..) there are many obstacles standing in their way, the political conflict has begun, the escalation has begun, and the forces Influential politicians are interfering to implement their agendas, which makes holding the elections on time difficult, if not impossible.”
Al-Muhanna stressed that “there is political exploitation of the crises, and the elections will be postponed for the next year until those parties arrange their situation, and if the opposite is done, things will move towards chaos, as partisan and militia interference escalates, and pushes towards the postponement.”
However, the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Elections Affairs, Abdul-Hussein Al-Hindawi, commented, on Sunday, in statements to an Iraqi local television station, on the withdrawals as “opinions remain, but the elections will take place.”
Al-Hindawi added: "Those who say that elections will not take place are all participants in the elections and have candidates. These are all respectable perceptions, fears and opinions, but they are a little unrealistic."
