Committee member Ahmed Hama Rashid said, in a statement to NRTArabic, (August 5, 2021), that "the dollar exchange rate is dependent on the monetary authority, which is the only and exclusive body, represented by the Central Bank of Iraq."
He added, "The Parliamentary Finance Committee, in its last meeting with the Central Bank of Iraq, told it that the dollar exchange rate was irreversibly changed."
He continued, "The statements by deputies about efforts to restore the dollar's exchange rate to its previous position are all electoral propaganda, and nothing else."
With the start of the countdown to the date of the early elections in Iraq, statements emerged that a political movement within the House of Representatives, to collect parliamentary signatures in order to restore the dollar exchange rate against the dinar or reduce the current rate.
